Madras Checks

In 1996 the city so called "The Cultural Capital of South India", went to sleep as Madras and woke up as Chennai. "Madras" not only has managed to survive the name change(some still refer to Chennai as Madras), but it is also famous in the unlikeliest of places…in the world of fashion and Interior Design.
Considered too humble to be chic, there are quite a few trendy takers for this cheerful checked pattern.

 Using master tailors in Europe, the simple hand loom cloth transforms into Designer  jackets, shirts, skirts and Bedlinen etc. And now with Oprah's site recommending the Madras scarf as  an IOU  ‘gift to give’, our humble plaid just might be all the more in demand in the fashion world.
