“Sit up, don't slouch”

“Sit up, don't slouch”. If these are the words that echo in your house, you might be interested in “KNELT”. A study desk designed for optimizing a neutral posture for young developing spines.

 Knelt can be used for writing, drawing, colouring, reading, doing homework, using a laptop, watching TV, etc. 

Tim Spencer, a pediatric nurse who re-trained as a product designer, founded Ubiquity in 2010 and has launched the Knelt range, a pioneering range of ergonomic children's furniture. After a child uses the product and understands how comfortable their posture is, they can then keep the habit and improve their health. 
That is the reason why the Knelt Range has been highly commended in the 'Most innovative product' category of the Junior Magazine Design Awards 2013. 

Traditionally, in India and Japan meals are eaten while seated either on the floor or on very low stools or cushions. This  props you to a neutral posture to aid digestion. If you still have those Paats(low stools), get them out for your kids or give them a stiff floor cushion in front of your coffee table and prop them up to a better posture.

WEEKEND FIND--India Inspired Kool Kitsch

The Duet Bunk Bed  from Nurseryworks is bunk beds and storage system in one including storage drawers or a trundle drawer. You also can buy additional cubby shelves to attach to either end of the beds.  It’s priced from US$3400.

 Uffizi, from Argington availabe @ modern seeds from $1,850. The Uffizi provides a cantilever design, a semi-enclosed lower bunk, and window-like openings that kids will love. The bunk bed can be converted to a loft bed with a study desk underneath.

Alex bunk system (from US$4345) from  a New York-based, collaborative children's furniture design firm Ducduc. Modular bunk which Includes armoire with one shelf and hangbar and ladder featuring cut-out rungs.  It can  be bunk or loft, whatever you choose!

Weekend Find: Colorful Cushion Covers from India Circus

Sometimes all you need to finish off a room is a decorative Cushion. This weekend I found my self drooling over these great cushion covers from India Circus. These are designed by Krsna Mehta. These digitally printed graphic designs are not specifically for kids, but will surely add lots of color and an ethnic vibe to yours or your kids' room. 

They can be used to add pizazz to your tween/teens room

It could also support your theme

It could add pattern to your already colorful room which lacks some.

Pin Press Shelves

Now here's a  shelf that  will make your kid actually want to clean up and de-clutter the room!

The wall of pins, which designer Vanesa Moreno from OOO My Design, calls a kid’s room shelf,  can be manipulated to hold toys and books. PinPres shelf goes beyond the limitations of other shelving systems that restrict usable space with predefined sections.When kids push the pins or push an object into the wall, it adapts its form to the objects to hold them like a custom made shelf.

 I am sure that kids will spend more time playing and exploring with this furniture, which could be a catchall for favorite toys, books and soft toys.

the PinPres Mini is lighter and more compact version of the playful storage solution that can actually be mounted on the wall!

Weekend find - Fab Wall Clocks

Whether your kids are just learning to tell time or simply need keep a tab, it will be nice to add a clock to their world. While you are at it , why not add some fun. Ikea 2013 - What in it for our little ones?

Ikea Catalogue 2013 is out, you can check it out online. Speaking of the the catalogue, its creating quite a buzz this time, not just about the contents (thats usual) but about it being interactive with your phones and tablets. I think thats awesome!

Anyway this post is not about the catalogue, but about what's in it for our little ones. It does have some new options this year, which are good for organising, some for decorating and some for plain fun!!! 

 

I love what they say in their catalogue "playing is a serious matter"and have new educational and decorative toys.

 

After loving the LOVA (leaf canopy) all these years Ikea added one more canopy MYSIG for my IKEA love list this year.

The smallest kitchen they have DUKTIG ...now at a lower price and the accessories that come with it, for your little doll's playhouse.

Love this Fabric(sold by the yard) TIDNY can be colored in with fabric markers and provides hours of fun for "I Spy"...love it. Always wanted to design a fabric like this and now they have it.
