Color bocking

"Color Blocking" - The look that has been haute for at least the last four years in the Fashion design world. The trend is transferred to home décor and  the results are  equally enticing. Blocks of colors can  refresh your home, bringing energy.

When it comes to Children's rooms, it has been here since Adams years. Only the hues and tones have changed. Designers are using bolder combinations then earlier.
What are the ways to block colours tastefully and elegantly without it looking too jarring?
The best part about colour blocking is that  you can implement as many or as few colors as you want. It can be done in whatever block size you choose. You can, but don't need to be weighed down with fussy details. Meaning lesser pattern the better (go for solid colours)

Colour blocking can be used to create a fun or a sophisticated look, so your colour choice will decide the type of atmosphere you wish to create in your room.
Here colour blocking on the wall has added so much interest to the room.
Colour blocking shouldn’t be limited to wall colours. Floors, furniture and accessories can all be incorporated into the colour blocking theme. Place bright shades with subtle contrasting block colours for an eclectic look or keep your walls and accessories in neutral colour and let your floor do all the talking.

If you're color-shy, take a quieter approach with the walls and furniture and let the accessories of colours that are not from the same family (hue) but same intensity(tone) do the talking.
Tips for choosing the right shade of colors
Choosing colors is both art and science. This color balancing aspect may very well be the trickiest of tasks. When color blocking, all items must have equivalent intensities. If you choose one pastel hue, all other colors must be of the same color depth. If you choose a cobalt blue, then your other colors must be just as bold such as a fire engine red. Mixing pastel and bolds might turn out well for you but it won’t give you the color blocking effect. So for the best result one would chose the colors from the same row or couple of rows.
