Create comfortable & encouraging study Areas

Study time can be interesting ... create a comfortable study space, free from clutter and distractions to suit your child's requirement and will increase their concentration and generate the sense of responsibility. Here are some useful tips to have it all!!.

Encourage proper posture

A proper table is good for a good posture while writing and drawing. It would be nice if the table is spacious enough to let the child spread their stuff needed to complete their assignment. Make sure their elbows can rest on it.  It should size up to somewhere between their waist and below your rib-cage when they sit against it.

A chair that is not comfortable can cause discomfort or pain that will interfere with studying and concentration.Invest in a chair in which they can sit on for long periods. Ensure that their back is not strained and the seat is comfortable and they can put their feet flat on the ground while sitting on it .
An adjustable-height chair for smaller children is a smart investment as they are guaranteed to grow.
If they require a computer for their schoolwork, it should be in their Study Place. Make sure to keep it at least a foot away from them.

See that its well lit

It's essential that their study space is well illuminated to ease eye strain and help them focus. Make sure that there is a lamp or sconce whose illumination falls directly on the desktop. If possible set up the study area near a window to get the maximum natural light in during the day.

See that its within their reach

Create a designated place for books, stationary, etc. Everything they need has a place and everything has to go back to the same place. It also generates a sense of responsibility. Be sure their Study space includes reference sources and supplies such as pens and pencils, papers, ruler, calculator, and whatever else they might need. Keep in mind that your kids' volume of homework and projects will grow as they do, so plan ahead for storage. If you have plenty of room nearby for extra shelves or a file system, a desk with just one or two compact drawers for storage may be plenty. If the desk needs to do double duty as a storage piece, look for a design with one or more deep file drawers.

Add a little bit of fun and personalisation.

Many desks have optional hutches or you could use combinations of cubbies, corkboards and open shelves for display and extra storage. You could use them to display their medals, awards, curio collection.
Install a bulletin board so your kids can pin up anything from homework to-do lists, cool pictures to their latest art projects. They can pin-up their timetables, notices, etc on the board as a reminder.
